Former Negro Baseball League players (from left) Ron “Bunny” Warren, Charlie “Whip” Davis, and Chuck Harmon, along with Tom “High Pock-ets” Turner (not pictured) will visit young baseball fans at the Public Li-brary of Cincinnati and Hamilton County in May and June through a partnership with the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum to cele-brate the Gillette Civil Rights Game June 20 between the Reds and the Chicago White Sox. Excerpts from Kadir Nelson’s award-winning We Are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball will be read by librarians at the events, sponsored by the Kersten Fund. The main library will also dis-play rare baseball memorabilia beginning May 25 and list the accom-plishments of such greats as Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige and Ernie Banks.
